We were given a specification to undertake a Laser Scan survey of four areas of buildings at St Peters School. This was to be done in order to produce a point cloud, from which drawings of 1:100 scale would be produced. A 5mm point cloud resolution was required due to the detail of the building facades. Therefore, the quantity of the scans was adjusted accordingly and over 50 scans were taken around the site. The quality of the scanner remains constant and therefore doesn’t alter for the varying specified detail on different sites.
A full control traverse was put in around the site, from which around 250 scan control points were positioned. This site work took four days to complete, with the processing taking a further three days due to the huge file size.
The point cloud was then delivered in. POD format on CDs to the client.
